'Punish cops for attack on Magura newsman'
Journalists here yesterday submitted a memorandum to the superintendent of police, demanding lawful action against the policemen who attacked one of their fellows during Saturday's clash between the activists of BCL and JCD in the town.
Additional police superintendent Mizanur Rahman received the memorandum on behalf of the SP.
Sub-Inspectors Mahtabur Rahman, Mizanur Rahman and Subhas Chandra beat up Abu Bashar Akhand, district correspondent of Masranga Television, leaving him seriously injured when he was covering the news of the clash.
Bashar, also correspondent of The Daily Sakaler Khabor, was admitted to Magura Sadar Hospital, according to the memorandum signed by member-secretary of the press club.
Two leaders of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) were also seriously injured during the clash.
