47th DU convocation March 4
Dhaka University will confer Doctor-of-Laws degree on Indian President Pranab Mukherjee at its 47th convocation scheduled for March 4.
The decision came at an emergency meeting of the academic council yesterday, chaired by Vice Chancellor Prof Arefin Siddique, says a press release.
President Zillur Rahman, also chancellor of DU, is expected to chair the ceremony which Mukherjee will attend as convocation speaker.
This will be the first foreign visit of Mukherjee since he was elected president of India. Bangladesh will award him as a foreign friend during the visit.
