Freedom fighters accuse RU of violating quota
The Rajshahi chapter of Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad yesterday alleged that Rajshahi University was not maintaining a 30 percent quota preserved for freedom fighters' children in the recruitment of teachers and employees.
The unit commander, Saidur Rahman, said the university authorities recently recruited 18 teachers in the departments of mathematics and applied mathematics.
Among the lecturer candidates were two freedom fighters' sons, but they did not get appointed even if they qualified, he told a press conference at Rajshahi Press Club.
The freedom fighters warned of taking to streets if the RU authorities do not ensure the quota within a month.
RU Pro-Vice Chancellor Mohammad Nurullah denied the allegation and said the recruitment process was not over yet. New advertisement will be published to fill the freedom fighters' quota, he told The Daily Star.
