One fails to drop Wasa tender for obstruction
A group of people allegedly prevented a private company official from dropping tender documents at Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Wasa) yesterday.
The victim, Emran, marketing executive of BETTLCO, said some 30 people confined him to the Wasa canteen for about one hour from 11:00am when he was to drop the tender.
The deadline for submitting bids for the Tk 1 crore tender to procure 20 transformers was 12:00noon yesterday, he said.
Emran said the men identified them as supporters of one of the leaders of Dhaka Mahangar Chhatra League.
An executive engineer of Wasa, Kamrunnahar Layli, said they did not receive any such complaint from anyone.
She said they received tenders at three Wasa offices--Wasa Bhaban, Fakirerpool zone, and Segunbagicha zone--so that all contractors could take part in the bidding.
"We also took help of Rab and police during the tender submission and bringing the boxes from other zones and opening those at 3:00pm."
