Prepared foam and raw materials were gutted in a fire at a foam manufacturing factory in Tejgaon industrial area yesterday afternoon. The fire broke out in the factory, PE Foam, near Bangladesh Government Press around 4:00pm, said Tejgaon Fire Station officials. About the reason behind the fire, Faruque Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Tejgaon Industrial Police Station, said some of the workers were doing wielding work inside the factory when sparks might have formed and caused the fire. A part of the tin-shed factory, used as a warehouse, was damaged severely, said Abu Hashem, station officer of the fire station. Five fire units extinguished the blaze after a hectic 50-minute effort.
