Over 200 BCL men sued in Patuakhali

Over 200 activists of Chhatra League, including its president and secretary of Patuakhali Science and Technology University, have been sued on charge of vandalising and looting several shops in Dumki upazila during a clash over submitting tender on Tuesday. Kamruzzaman Sohag and Saiful Islam were identified as BCL president and secretary of the university among the accused Md Nasir Uddin, treasurer of Pitala Bonik Samittee in the upazila, on Thursday filed a case with Dumki police station, accusing 229 activists. The BCL activists of the university and Dumki upazila unit went on rampage and looting around 100 shops at Pitala Bazar when they engaged in a clash over submission of tender. Over 50 people, including a good number of traders, were also injured during the violence, said GM Shah Newaz, officer in-charge of the PS. Meanwhile, two probe bodies have been formed to investigate into the violence and assess the loss of the looted valuables, said university sources.
