Kushtia JSD leader abducted in Khulna
A Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) leader of the district was allegedly abducted by a gang in cantonment area of Khulna city on Friday night.
Family members of the victim claimed that some members of a law-enforcement agency in plainclothes picked him up.
The JSD leader was identified as Mohabbat Hossain, publicity secretary of JSD Kumarkhali upazila unit in Kushtia.
Moyna Khatun, wife of the victim at a press conference in the town said Mohabbat went to visit his younger sister in Khulna on Friday morning.
There he, along with his sister's husband Habibur Rahman, went to the cantonment area in the evening. A group of people stopped Mohabbat in front of Garision Cinema Hall at about 9.00pm and introduced themselves as the member of Rab-6, Khulna.
“One of them identified himself as Captain Mehedi of Rab-6 and asked Mohabbat to go with them. They took Mohabbat on their microbus and left the scene,†Mayna said.
Kushtia district JSD president Golam Mohsin said Mohabbat told him that he would be going to Khulna on Friday. He also came to know that some people abducted him in the name Rab men, he said.
Contacted, Captain Faruk of Rab-6 said he was not aware of any such incident.
“No patrol team was in the area during the incident,†the Rab official said, refuting their involvement.
Habibur Rahman yesterday filed a general diary with Khan Jahan Ali police station in Khulna.
Contacted, Officer in-charge (OC) of the police station Sahidul Islam said they were investigating the matter.
