24-hr transport strike in Dinajpur today
Transport workers of the district will go on a 24-hour strike in the district today, demanding wage hike.
The strike was earlier called at a press conference organised by Dinajpur Zila Motor Paribahan Shramik Union at the press club in the town on Monday night.
At the press conference, the leaders of the union said that prices of daily essentials and house rent had gone beyond the reach of the transport workers over the last few years but their wages remained unchanged.
They also demanded appointment letters of leaders from the transport owners to ensure job security.
They also threatened to go for indefinite strike if the demands were not met, said M. Rafique, president of the union, at the programme.
Among others, Md Fazle Rabbi, general secretary of the union, also spoke.
