Thakurgaon hartal passes off
A dawn-to-dusk hartal, enforced by district units of Jubo Dal and Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) protesting rejection of bail prayer of BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, passed off almost peacefully yesterday
During the hartal, the protesters also demanded release of Mirza Alamgir and withdrawal of all 'false' cases against him.
In the morning the pro-hartal activists vandalised five vehicles including passenger buses, truck and motor-bikes in Old Bus Stand area, in front of circuit house, Sadar Hospital in the town and in Unatrish Mile area under Sadar upazila.
The supporters also brought out several processions in support of their hartal while leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies blocked traffic on different roads.
