Jatiya Party (JP) Chairman HM Ershad has taken responsibility for bringing up two children who lost their parents to the November 24 fire at Tazreen Fashions. He arrived at Singhikura village in Mithapukur upazila on Sunday noon to see 9-year-old Seema and her five-year-old brother Zakaria, children of Shaheen Mian and Zannati Begum of the village. Both were burnt to death in Tazreen Fashions fire incident at Nishchintapur in Ashulia on November 24 last year. The former president publicly announced that he would provide the two orphans with food, shelter, treatment and education. He also inaugurated the constriction work of a house for the orphans and prayed for the salvation of the departed souls of the fire victims. Responding to questions on national issues raised by local journalists, Ershad said the prevailing situation in the country is not at all good. About BNP's joining the next general elections, the JP chief expressed doubt about the acceptability of the elections without their participation. He said no concession will be given to anyone on any parliamentary seat in Rangpur, if the general elections were held. He said neither Awami League nor BNP will be able to form the next government with their own strength as none of the two parties will get absolute majority in the next parliamentary elections. The former president announced that he would contest the next general elections from Rangpur-4 (Pirgachha-Kaunia), Rangpur-3 (Sadar) and Rangpur-5 (Mithapukur) constituencies. Moshiur Rahman Ranga, JP presidium member and president of its Rangpur district unit, and Fakhruzzaman Jahangir, joint secretary of the party's central committee, were present.
