Drug peddlers attack houses of protesters
A gang of drug peaddlers damaged at least 11 houses, two of them belonging to freedom fighters, in Baluadanga area of the district town on Wednesday night.
The affected house owners are Md Alauddin Mia and Mobarak Ali, both freedom fighters, Aktar Hossain, Sahiruddin, Younus Ali, Ratan Mia, Alal Bapari, Rubel, Chanmia, Abdur Razzak and Muslim Uddin
Police said the freedom fighters and others recently opposed a drug network of the gang in the area.
Angered, the drug peddlers ransacked the houses at around 9:00pm and looted valuables worth Tk 3 lakh from there, said the victims.
A case was filed with Dinajpur police station accusing a few notorious drug peddlers of the area in connection with the incident.
