Narsingdi Jubo Dal leader murdered
A Jubo Dal leader of opposition BNP was stabbed to death, allegedly due to an intra-party conflict, near party office in Ghorashal under Palash upazila yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Pothikullah Pothik, 50, convenor of Ghorashal municipal Jubo Dal. He hailed from Ghorashal Miapara village in the upazila.
Police said, a gang numbering 8/10, equipped with sharp weapon swooped on him at about 12:00 and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.
Pothik was a supporter of Elder Kabir group. He was attacked near Ghorashal bus stand by rivals while going to the local Jubo Dal office.
A BNP activist was also injured in the attack when he tried to save Pothik.
Pothikullah was rushed to Narsingdi Sadar Hospital where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Police sent the body to Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Officer in-charge Shahadat Hossain of Palash PS said Pothik was a victim of the long-standing conflict between the supporters of BNP's industry secretary Elder Kabir and central body member Dr Abdul Moyeen Khan.
