BSF picks up youth
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) picked up a Bangladeshi cattle trader from Putkhali Beel (water-body) area of Medenipur border point in Jibannagar upazila of Chuadanga early yesterday.
The victim was identified as Sentu Mondol, 26, son of Nuru Mondol of Harinnagar village in the same upazila.
Villagers said Sentu was detained by the BSF members of Dharampur Camp at gunpoint at around 1:30am while he along with other cattle traders was entering Bangladesh territory with cows through Medenipur border from India.
The other cattle traders, however, managed to flee.
Commander of BGB-35 Battalion Lieutenant Colonel Qazi Asaduzzaman said that the BGB sent a letter to BSF protesting it and called for a flag meeting.
BSF has agreed to discuss the matter, he added.
