Jamat-Shibir men attack policemen, injure 10
At least 10 policemen were injured in an attack by the activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and its student wing Islami Chhatra Shibir at Dhobra village in Shibganj upazila on Wednesday night.
Sub-inspector Khairul Islam and ASI Nannu Mia of Shibganj police station were among the injured.
Additional superintendent of police Ariful Haque said, a team of the PS went to the village to arrest Ataur Rahman, ameer of Shahbajpur union unit Jamaat, in a case filed for attacking police at Kansat area on December 4.
As police raided the house of Ataur, hundreds of Jamaat-Shibir men confined them and swooped on them, leaving over 10 injured at around 9:00pm.
They also ransacked a police vehicle, two motorbikes and snatched mobile phone sets from the policemen.
Police filed a case with the PS, accusing 528 Jamaat-Shibir men in this connection, said the ASP.
