Bangladeshi shot by BSF in Joypurhat
A Bangladeshi national was injured by bullet as Border Security Force (BSF) if India opened fire on him at Koriya border under Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat yesterday afternoon, BGB sources said.
The victim was identified as Alamgir Hossain, 32, son of Md Sadekul Islam of Kachhna village under the upazila.
Witnesses said that the BSF at Shidai Camp near the border fired at Alamgir when he approached a Koriya border point under Panchbibi upazila of Joypurhat at around 4.40pm yesterday.
Family members said, Alamgir went to bring back the goats gazing near the zero line.
A bullet hit his forehead, they said.
Locals and family members took him to Joypurhat Modern Hospital in critical condition where the doctors referred him to Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital in Bogra as his condition deteriorated.
BGB members at Koriya camp strongly protested the act of the BSF.
They also called for a flag meeting but BSF did not respond till filing this report yesterday evening.
