One killed over land dispute

A woman was killed allegedly by her relative over a piece of disputed land at Sehala village in Daulatpur upazila yesterday. The deceased was identified as Parula Buegum, 35, wife of Zerafat Mollah of the village. Zahir Hossain, officer in-charge of Daulatpur Police Station, said there was a longstanding conflict between Zerafat and his nephew Kalam Mollah over the land. As a sequel to the conflict, an altercation took place between Zerafat and Komol over the issue yesterday morning. At one stage, Kolom stabbed Parula indiscriminately, leaving her dead on the spot, said the OC. On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy, he added. Kalam had gone into hiding sone after the incident, said the police officer.
