17 back home from Indian jail

After languishing in Indian jail for three years, 17 Bangladeshis returned home Monday evening through Burimari land port under Patgram upazila of the district. The Changrabandha Immigration police of Cooch Behar district in Pashchimbanga handed them over to Burimari immigration police at around 7:00pm. They hail from Lalmonirhat, Kurigram, Nilphamari and Rangpur districts, BGB sources said. Burimari BGB Camp Commander Subedar Jabiul Islam said they all are labourers and crossed the border three years ago in search of work. The Bangladeshis, who returned home, are Shah Alam, 20, of Phulbari upazila, Moshar Ali, 26, of Bhurungamari upazila in Kurigram district; Proshanto Kumar Roy, 23, Bisadu Islam, 22, Saidul Islam, 20, Ashir Ali, 23, Abdul Jalil, 21, Omar Ali, 24, and Abir Hossain, 25, of Patgram upazila in Lalmonirhat district; Chameli Begum, 30, wife of Rana Miah, and their daughter Rupa Khatun, 10, Rubina Begum, 31, wife of Noyab Ali of Pirganj upazila in Rangpur district; Moshur Rahman, 20, of Domar upazila, Nur Ismal, 35, of Dimla upazila, Biraj Nath Roy, 40, Paritosh Roy, 22, and Rajoni Kanto Roy, 21, of Jaldhaka upazila in Nilphamari district.
