10 injured in Pabna AL infighting
At least 10 people were injured in a gunfight between two rival factions of ruling Awami League in Ananto area of Sadar upazila on Sunday night.
Sources said that the clash took place between the supporters of Ahad Babu, joint secretary of district AL and Ragib Hassan Tipu, secretary of district unit Jubo League at about 11:00pm.
The cadres of both groups used firearms and other lethal weapons during the half an hour long clash that left 10 injured.
Seriously injured, Sumon Ali, 35, of village Ramchandrapur and Shanto Pramanik, 27, of village Raghabpur in Sadar upazila were admitted to Pabna Medical College Hospital.
The clash was a sequel to rivalry over establishing supremacy in the area, sources said.
Officer in-charge of Pabna Sadar police station Md. Jasim Uddin Sarkar said, nobody informed about the matter or filed any case in this regard with the police station.
