Krishak Dal leader bludgeoned by BCL

A Krishak Dal leader of Sharankhola upazila seriously injured in an attack by BCL activists yesterday morning. Victim Selim Pahlwan, 45, was president of upazila unit of the BNP-backed party. He hailed from Uttar Tafalbari village under the upazila. Witnesses said, a group of BCL activists led by Hasan Mir, member of upazila BCL executive committee, took Selim to local Rayanda Pilot High School. Confining to a room of the school, they bludgeoned him, leaving him seriously injured. Locals rescued him and sent him to Upazila Health Complex. Later he was shifted to Khulna Medical College and Hospital. In another incident, two madrasa teachers were injured in an attack in Moralganj upazila of the district yesterday morning. A group of unruly attacked the teachers as they were standing by the roadside while a victory day procession, organised by local AL, was passing by them at about 11:00am. Locals said Md Shorab Hossain Gazi, 45, and Khan Muttasim Billah, 37, of local Abu Huraira Dakhil Madrasa, were assaulted on suspicion of being Jamaat workers.
