JU holds 'Nobanno Utsab'
“Nobanno Utsabâ€, a festival marking the harvest of new crops, was organised by Jahangirnagar University's Bangla department yesterday.
The celebrations started with a colourful procession on the campus, led by the department Chairman Prof Khaled Hossain and participated by students attired in the golden colour of paddy.
The daylong programmes included traditional dance and folk music and honouring of freedom fighters.
The country's farmers celebrate the festival during this period marking the harvest of the season's prime crop – Aman.
