Charges pressed against six
Nearly eight months into the killing of schoolboy Naimul Islam Naim, police finally submitted charge sheet in the Naim murder case against six accused here on Wednesday.
The accused are Zakaria, 23, son of Abdul Mannan, Dalim,19, son of Alimuddin , Zaman,19, son of Abdul Hamid, Shahadat, 19, son of Shahajahan Ali , brick kiln worker Abdul Motin, 32, son of Ahmed Ali and Shakil,17, son of Zahidur Rahman of Kahaloo upazila.
The law enforcers arrested seven out of 10 accused in the case and of the arrestees, Abdul Mannan, also brick kiln owner, was freed on bail.
Main accused Zakaria, Dalim and Zaman remained absconding, said Anwar Hossain, investigation officer (IO) of the case.
On April 5, 2012, a gang picked up Naim, 13, son of Rafiqul Islam of Rostom Chapor village and class seven student of Kahaloo High School on his way to coaching centre and later demanded Tk five lakh as ransom from the parents.
The kidnappers took the ransom but killed Naim and burnt the body to ashes by throwing it into the stove of a brick kiln in the upazila, said ASP Ashraful Islam quoting family members.
