Hartal passes off peacefully in Thakurgaon
A six-hour hartal enforced by district BNP demanding release of party's acting Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir passed off peacefully in the town yesterday.
Leaders and activists of BNP and its associate bodies took position at different points in the moring. They brought out several processions at Thakurgaon intersection, Art Gallery intersection, old bus stand and Polytechnic Institute area at 6:00am.
They blocked traffic on different roads by putting up barricades and burning tyres.
