Abducted boy rescued

Police rescued a six-year-old boy from Kalabagan area in the district town on Tuesday night, around eight hour into his abduction. They also arrested neighbour Kaniz Fatima Lima, her father Taslim Uddin, brother Tarikul Islam Tushar, grandmother Sufia Begum, one Manik and his mother Rabeya Begum in connection with the abduction. The victim, Arafat, son of local trader Alamgir Hossain of the area, is a student of nursery at City Kindergarten, said police. Police said, on secret information, a team led by additional superintendent of police Mahidul Islam and ASP (circle) AFM Anwar Hossain Khan, raided the house of Lima and rescued the boy from her grandmother's lap. The boy was doped with sedative after abduction, said the ASP. “Lima, also a drug peddler, is an active member of Lat Bhai gang in the area. Lat Bhai alias Liton demanded Tk 10 lakh as ransom from Arafat's parents over mobile phone”, he added. Alamgir said his son went missing after he went to one Sujon's shop in the area for buying a packet of potato chips on Tuesday noon.
