<i>Thakurgaon town recalls the day of freedom </i>

On December 3 in 1971, the valiant freedom fighters freed the district town from the Pakistani occupation forces. Different socio-political and cultural organisations yesterday organised various programmes to mark the day. District unit of Bangladesh Udichi Shilpi Goshthi chalked out a day-long programme including procession, photography show on Liberation War, discussion and cultural function. A colourful procession was brought out from martyred freedom fighters' memorial premises that paraded different streets of the city. Earlier, former lawmaker and organiser of the liberation war Fazlul Karim inaugurated the programme. A discussion was held at Thakurgaon Government Boys' High School ground. Deputy commissioner Mukesh Chandra Biswas was present as chief guest. Among others, superintendent of police Foisal Mahmud, acting president of district unit Awami League and administrator of Thakurgaon Zila Parishad Sadek Kuraishi, were present as special guests. On the other hand, Thakurgaon Muktijoddha Shangshad formed a human chain at Thakurgaon intersection, demanding expedite trail of war criminals.
