Notorious criminal held in Jhenidah
Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) on Tuesday arrested a notorious criminal along with firearms in Kaliganj upazila of the district.
The elite forces in a drive in the early hours nabbed him along with two shooter guns, one single barrel gun and a bullet at Dudrajpur village in Kaliganj upazila on Tuesday night.
The arrestee, Arif Hossain, 35, was second-in-command of Ghena Bahini, a top criminal gang, and son of Altaf Hossain of the village.
Captain Ashraf of Rab-6 said, acting on secret information, a team of the elite force raided the area at about 9.00pm and arrested Arif along with the firearms.
Arif was wanted by police in several cases, including for gunfight with Rab, extortion, abduction and mugging, he said.
In Jessore, police in separate drives arrested three alleged criminals along with six hand bombs and sharp weapons in the district town on Tuesday night, reports our Benapole correspondent.
The arrestees were identified as Liton, Sujon and Rony -- all residents of different areas in the town.
