Elephants kill farmer

An indigenous farmer was trampled to death by wild elephants at Shomnathpara village in Bakshiganj upazila yesterday. The deceased was identified as Philip Sangma, 55, of the village. Police said a herd of wild elephants entered the paddy field of the victim in search of food at around 3:00am. The elephants attacked Philip when he tried to drive them away. He died on the spot, police said.
