BSF picks up Bangladeshi cattle trader, quarry worker
Indian Border Security Force (BSF) detained a Bangladeshi cattle trader and a stone quarry worker in Thakurgaon and Sylhet yesterday and the day before.
Our Thakurgaon correspondent reported that Indian border guards picked up cattle trader Khabiruddin, 25, son of Rezaul of Jugihar Harinmari village under Baliadangi upazila from Mondumala border early yesterday.
Officer-in-Charge of Baliadangi Police Station Md Asaduzzaman quoted local people as saying that BSF personnel of Velagachi camp arrested Khabiruddin while he was returning home with some cattle at around 4:00am.
Contacted, Commanding Officer of 30 BGB Battalion Lt Colonel Touhidul Islam said a flag meeting on this issue will be held at 9:00am today.
In Sylhet, BSF arrested a stone quarry worker from Sreepur border in Jaintapur upazila on Friday morning, reports out staff correspondent.
The victim, Jahangir Alam, 26, hails from South Thubang village in the upazila.
BGB sources said the Indian border guards picked up Jahangir from near the zero point of Sreepur border at around 9:00am.
At the flag meeting held at Sreepur frontier yesterday, BSF told its Bangladesh counterpart that they had handed Alam over to the Indian police as he entered the Indian territory without valid documents, sources said.
