Young woman, 3 housewives allegedly commit suicide
A young woman and three housewives allegedly committed suicide in Chapainawabganj, Sunamganj, Jessore and Bogra districts yesterday, on Sunday and the day before.
A woman allegedly killed herself at Chaitannayapur village of Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj on Sunday, reports our correspondent.
The deceased was identified as, Sweety Akhtar, 20, daughter of Zem Ali of the village under Dhainagar union in the upazila.
Humayaun Kabir, chairman of Dhainagar union parishad said, Sweety's family members found her hanging from a ceiling fan in the morning. But the reason behind her suicide could not be known immediately.
Sweety was married off about one and half years ago and her husband works in Dubai, he said.
An unnatural death case was filed with Shibganj police station in this regard, said duty officer SI Abdur Razzak of Shibganj police station.
In Sunamganj, a housewife allegedly committed suicide at Inat Nagar village in Sough Sunamganj upazila early yesterday.
The deceased was identified as Jayeda Begum, 23, wife of Sukur Ali of the village.
Police said she killed herself by hanging from the ceiling of her room following a family feud.
In Jessore, a housewife allegedly committed suicide by jumping under a running train in Abhoynagar upazila on Saturday evening.
The deceased was identified as Meherunnesa, 40, wife of Abu Zafar Mollah of Mathurapur village of the upazila.
Police said, Meherunnesa committed suicide by jumping under a Jessore-bound train in Naoapara rail station area at about 7.00pm.
Family feud was the reason behind the suicide, they said.
In Bogra, a housewife allegedly committed suicide at Bhatoari village of Kahaloo upazila of the district on Sunday night.
The deceased was identified as Monjuara Begum, 28, wife of Abdul Kuddus of the village.
Police quoting family members said that the victim was the second wife of Kuddus whom he married without the consent of the first wife.
Monjuara might have committed suicide by drinking poison at 8.30pm on Sunday following a family suicide, they said.
She was rushed to the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College and Hospital where the on duty doctor declared her dead.
