Pabna to have marine academy by 2014

The government is going to establish a marine academy in Pabna. Planning Minister Air Vice Marshal (retd) AK Khandaker will lay the foundation of the academy to be built on around 10 acres of land near Nagarbari ferry terminal on Friday, officials said. Dr Sajid Hussain, commandant of Bangladesh Marine Academy, said Tk 123 core has been sanctioned for construction of the academy. Construction work will start next year and is expected to be finished in 2014, he added. The academy will have 200 seats but only 100 students will be enrolled in the first year, the official further said.
