Schoolgirl found dead, schoolboy murdered
A schoolgirl was found dead in Dinajpur on Saturday while a schoolboy was murdered in Bogra on the previous day.
A Junior School Certificate (JSC) examinee was found dead at her residence in Kaharol upazila of Dinajpur on Sunday, the day before the start of the examinations.
The deceased was identified as Bandana Rani Devsharma, 12, daughter of Bijoy Kumar Devsharma of Purbo Sultanpur village in the upazila, reports our correspondent.
Kaharol police recovered the body which was hanging from the ceiling of her room and sent it to Dinajpur Medical College and Hospital for autopsy.
It could not be known immediately whether it was a case of suicide or murder, police said.
In Bogra, a schoolboy was killed at Kalerpara village under Dhunat upazila on Friday.
The deceased was identified as Moni Babu Shuvo, 12, son of Safiqul Islam of the village, reports a correspondent.
Family members alleged that Masud Rana, son of late Rustam Ali of the same village murdered Shuvo by slitting his throat by sharp weapons.
Shuvo was a student of class four at Kalerpara Government Primary School. His father is a carpenter while mother works at a garments factory in Dhaka.
Sources said, after dinner on Friday, Shuvo went to bed with his cousin Masud Rana as usual. Masud later took him to a lonely place near a local water body and killed him brutally.
Victim's father, Safiqul Islam lodged a murder case with the PS and police said they were trying to arrest the accused.
