People of Atghoria upazila yesterday recalled the freedom fighters who were killed by Pakistan army during the liberation war. On this day in 1971, eleven freedom fighters valiantly fought against the Pakistani occupation forces at Bonshipara ghat in the upazila and embraced martyrdom. Chaired by Commander Zohurul Islam, a discussion meeting was held at Bonshipara memorial in the morning to mark the day. Earlier, the freedom fighters of the area placed wreaths at the memorial paying homage to the martyred souls. The speakers at the meeting demanded punishment to the war criminals who perpetrated crimes against humanity during the Liberation War of 1971. Among others, freedom fighters Abdus Sattar, Siddikur Rahman, Ali Ashraf, Kashem Munshi and Baten Munshi, spoke.
