Our Correspondent, Rangpur
Doctors of Rangpur Medical College and Hospital and private clinics yesterday started a week-long two-hour work abstention everyday from 10:00am, demanding withdrawal of 'a false' case against their four colleagues. They also wore black badge during the protest programme. On Saturday, the physicians at a press conference at the hospital auditorium announced the programme. Sources said, one Moklesur Rahman filed a case against doctors Azizul Islam, Sharmin Sultana Lucky, Moni and Monwar Hossain with Kotwali police station on October 31. Moklesur in his case stated that his wife gave birth to a baby at a clinic in the city on October 30, who died due to faulty operation. The agitating physicians at the press conference also threatened to continue the work abstention programme until the demand was met. Dr Nurunnabi Laizu, joint secretary of Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad of Rangpur district unit, Dr Lelin and Dr Monwar Hossain, were present, among others.
