50 sued in Laxmipur

A case was filed against 50 people, including security coordinator of BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia, yesterday in connection with the killing of Jubo Dal leader Deedar Hossain. Khaleda Zia's security coordinator Lt. Col (retd) Abdul Majid and his brother UP member Monir Hossain were among 25 identified accused in the case. Twenty-five other unidentified people were also charged in the case. Rehana Akhtar, wife of slain Jubo Dal leader Advocate Deedar Hossain, filed the case with Sadar police station in the morning. According to the case statement, supporters of Abdul Majid went to Bijoynagar Kalibazar in Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning to conduct mass contact ahead of parliament election. At that time, an altercation took place between the supporters of district BNP president Abul Khair Bhuiyan and that of Majid over the campaign. At one stage, Majid's supporters fired on the supporters of Khair, leaving Deedar Hossain, joint convener of Uttar Hamchhadi union Jubo Dal, dead and injuring 10 others, said the case statement.
