3 housewives murdered in Dinajpur, Joypurhat

Three housewives were murdered allegedly by their husbands for dowry and other reasons in Dinajpur and Joypurhat districts on Tuesday. Two were murdered in Birampur and Chirirbandar upazilas of Dinajpur while the other in Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat. The deceased were identified as Tartila Begum, 22, wife of Mobassher Hossain of village Bijul-Kanjigari under Birampur upazila in Dinajpur, Tanzila Akter, 30, wife of Nazrul Islam of Dulali-Ratnahar village under Akkelpur upazila of Joypurhat and Nipa Aktar, 22, wife of Md. Sazzad Hossain of Dakkhin Palashbari of Chirirbandar upazila in Dinajpur. Birampur police said, Mobassher Hossain, a teacher of Dangapara High School in Hakimpur upazila of Dinajpur used to torture his wife for dowry. On Tuesday night, the couple locked in a quarrel over the issue and at a stage, Mobassher started beating Tartila. When Tartila died, Mobassher hung the body from the ceiling of the house and fled the scene. Md. Amirul Islam, father of the deceased, filed a case with Birampur police station accusing six people of murder. In Chirirbandar upazila, Nipa Aktar was tortured to death by her husband Md. Sazzad Hossain. Police said Nipa recently came to know that her husband had an illicit relationship with another woman. Sazzad murdered her just for protesting adultery, they said. Contacted, Md. Harisul Islam, officer in charge of Chirirbandar police station, said Entazul Haque, father of the deceased, filed a murder case accusing four people. In Joypurhat, housewife Tanzila was killed allegedly by her husband Nazrul in Akkelpur upazila. Akkelpur police said, Nazrul locked in an altercation with wife Tuesday night and killed her by slitting her throat. He later dumped the body in a nearby paddy field. Some farmers spotted the body next morning and informed the police. Police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy. Local people caught Nazrul from Deugram area of neighbouring Khetlal upazila while he was fleeing with his son and handed him over to police. Victim's father Asgar Ali Akand lodged a murder case with Akkelpur PS.
