3 workers killed in wall collapse

Three demolition workers were killed as the wall of an abandoned school building crumbled down on them at a remote village in Kanaighat upazila last evening. The deceased were identified as Mohammad Ali, 20, and Hamidur Rahman, 20, of Bhati Barapait and Nur Ahmed, 30, of Lohajuri village. The incident took place at about 6:00pm when the Ujan Barapur Government Primary School building was being demolished. The school is located in a remote and bordering area, which is about 28 kilometres off the upazila headquarters, said Superintendent of Police (SP) of Sylhet Md Shakhawat Hossain. With the help of local people, the trapped bodies were taken out of the rubble around 10:00pm last night, said Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Kanaighat Police Station Md Abdul Hai.
