Family demands punishment to people involved
Family members, relatives and friends of a college student who was allegedly shot dead by Detective Branch (DB) of police in Ashulia on October 13, have termed his death "a pre-planned killing over land-related dispute" and demanded punishment to the DB men "involved in the incident".
They made the demand at a human chain on Mirpur Government Bangla College premises yesterday. Rony, 18, was a student of the college.
Detectives claim that Rony was killed during an "exchange of gunfires with criminals".
A relative of Rony alleged that DB police "killed him in a planned way" after siding with the people with whom Rony's relatives had land-related feud. The relative also said police were now trying to paint Rony as a criminal.
Contacted, an inspector of the DB who faces the accusations by Rony's family denied the allegations yesterday.
