<i>Neighbours beat man dead for nothing</i>
A man was beaten to death and his wife injured by their neighbours over a trivial matter at Chandai village in Kumarkhali upazila Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Abu Sayeed, 50, of the village.
Police said an altercation ensued between Sayeed and his neighbour Selim at about 6am in the area as Sayeed's ducks entered to Selim's house.
At one stage, Selim and his supporter Shamser beat up Sayeed and his wife Selina Khatun, 35, mercilessly, leaving them seriously injured.
Later, Sayeed died on the way to Kushtia General Hospital.
Selim and Shamser went into hiding after the incident.
On information, police recovered the body and sent it to hospital morgue for autopsy.
A case was filed in this connection.
