DU students donate money for Padma bridge

Staff Correspondent
A number of Dhaka University students yesterday donated Tk 6,500 to assist in the construction of the proposed Padma bridge which the government plans to build with local funds. Responding to the urge of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, the 16th batch students of DU under the management studies department, raised the fund and handed it over to the university's vice chancellor to send it to the prime minister. The students said they collected the fund after Prof Muhammad Ataur Rahman of the department urged them to raise the fund for the bridge. Talking to The Daily Star, DU Vice Chancellor Prof AAMS Arefin Siddique said the amount may be small but the gesture itself is large.
