Hasina seeks more Chinese investment
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina yesterday urged the Chinese investors to invest in Bangladesh in a bigger way which will be beneficial for both the countries.
The prime minister made the request when a delegation of Fujian Provincial Committee of Communist Party of China (CPC), led by its Deputy Secretary General Chen Wenqing, met her at her Parliament office.
PM's deputy press secretary Bijan Lal Dev briefed reporters after the meeting.
Hasina said an investment-friendly atmosphere, cheap labour and wonderful investment policy is prevailing in the country, and the Chinese entrepreneurs could explore these opportunities by investing more in different sectors.
The prime minister lauded the Chinese contributions to Bangladesh's infrastructure development and power sector, and said it is helping the country achieve its desired goal.
She also appreciated the economic progress China achieved and said Bangladesh is also benefiting from it as a neighbour.
Chen Wenqing said Fujian province is interested to invest in Bangladesh low-tech to high-tech sectors.
He highly appreciated Bangladesh's successes in different fields like agriculture, education, health, economy, women empowerment, food security, livelihood and social safety net.
“Bangladesh has maintained over six percent growth rate despite global economic meltdown which is praiseworthy,” he said.
Wenqing said bilateral ties between Bangladesh and China are flourishing fast and hoped that the relations would be strengthened further.
Information and Communication Technology Minister Syed Abul Hossain, Ambassador At-Large M Ziauddin and Chinese Ambassador in Dhaka Li Jun were present on the occasion.
