Seven people die in road accidents

Seven people were killed and 16 others injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka, Narayanganj and Comilla on Sunday and yesterday. Our staff correspondent reports, a man was killed under a Gulistan-bound passenger bus while he was crossing the road in front of IDB Bhaban at Begum Rokeya Sharani in the capital yesterday. Day labourer Abul Bashar, 55, from Char Jangalia of Noakhali Sadar upazila and a resident of Baganbari slum of Mirpur-14 in the capital, was rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead, said police. Our N'ganj correspondent reports, four passengers of an auto-rickshaw were killed on the spot and another was injured critically when a truck rammed the auto-rickshaw on Dhaka-Sylhet highway in Rupganj upazila of Narayanganj Sunday night. The deceased were identified as Tahu Mia, 42, his wife Amena Khatun, 35, Bashirunnesa, 33, wife of Mukul Mia of Rupganj, and Russel Mia, 28, son of Mahar Ali of Sherpur district. The injured was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, said police. UNB reports, a motorcyclist died instantly as a truck rammed his bike near Saheb Bazar in Burichong upazila of Comilla yesterday. The victim was identified as Ruhul, 30, son of Nurul Haq of Shah Daulatpur village in the upazila. In Nababganj upazila of Dhaka, a man died instantly and 15 others were injured when a bus fell into a roadside ditch while giving side to a rickshaw coming from opposite direction on Dohar-Nababganj road yesterday. The deceased was identified as Imran Hossain of Joypara village in Dohar upazila.
