Road crashes kill seven, injure three
Seven people were killed and three injured in separate road accidents in Dhaka, Gaibandha, Thakurgaon, Chapainawabganj and Jessore on Monday and yesterday.
Staff correspondent reports, a bus hit Jotsna Begum, 35, on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway at Jatrabari in the capital, killing her instantly around 7:30am.
In another accident, human hauler driver Mohammad Sabuj, 25, died as an unidentified vehicle hit him while he was crossing the road at West Kafrul in the capital around 2:00pm.
He succumbed to his injuries at National Institute of Traumatology and Orthopaedic Rehabilitation (Nitor).
In Gaibandha, motorcyclist Jasiuddin Bepari, 85, was killed instantly and two co-riders were injured as a bus hit his motorbike on Gobindaganj-Mohimaganj road at Taragona bridge in Gobindaganj upazila around 11:00am yesterday.
Injured Jahangir Alam and Omar Faruk, grandsons of the deceased, were rushed to the upazila health complex.
Following the accident, locals put up barricades on the road disrupting traffic movement for four hours.
In Thakurgaon, tractor driver Ahammad Ali, 30, was killed as his vehicle fell into a roadside ditch at Parua village in Baliadangi upazila yesterday afternoon.
Meanwhile, Darshan Ali, 70, was injured when a bus hit him while he was walking beside Thakurgaon-Baliadangi road at Kalmegh village in the upazila on Sunday.
He died at Thakurgaon Sadar Hospital on Monday.
In Chapainawabganj, Ahik, 6, son of late Nasir Uddin, died when a bus ran over him on Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi highway at Horipur in the municipality area yesterday.
UNB from Jessore says, Aminur Rahman, 38, was killed and his nephew injured when a truck rammed their motorcycle on Benapole-Jessore road at Beniali in Benapole on Monday night.
The injured is Masum Ali, 22.
