5 get life for murder in Moulvibazar
A Moulvibazar court yesterday sentenced five people to life imprisonment for killing a man in Baralekha upazila in 2003.
The convicts are Suhel, Ruhel, Shukur, Kadir and Sahid of Sitamohal village in Baralekha upazila.
The court also fined them Tk one lakh each, in default, they are to suffer one year more in jail.
According to the prosecution, the five hacked Nurul Islam Bodoi of the village on the night of November 28 in 2003, leaving him critically injured. He was rushed to the hospital where he died the following day.
Later, victim's brother filed a murder case with Baralekha Police Station accusing the five.
After examining records and witnesses, District and Sessions Judge Md Abdur Rashid pronounced the verdict.
