36-hr road-waterway blockade in CHT from today
Democratic Youth Forum will enforce a 36-hour roads and waterways blockade in Khagrachhari and Rangamati districts today demanding stoppage of the hearing of CHT Land Dispute Resolution Commission.
The forum, a youth organisation of United Peoples Democratic front, will also observe a 12-hour blockade in Bandarban.
Leaders of the forum announced the programme at a protest rally held at Shanirbar Bazar area in the district town on Monday.
They also demanded withdrawal of the land commission chairman retired Justice Khademul Islam and the recognition of the traditional land law of the hill people.
At the rally, they also threatened to go for a tougher programme if the demands were not met.
Notun Kumar Chakma, president of the forum and its General Secretary Michal Chakma also spoke.
