Bodies of 5 missing fishermen found
The bodies of five fishermen, who went missing as two boats capsized in Tanguar Haor under Tahirpur upazila of Sunamganj district on Thursday, were recovered yesterday and the day before.
Police said the bodies of Zitendra Barman, 35, his son, Sajib Barman, 11 of Indrapur village, and Abdul Gani, 35 of Ratanpur village were found floating on Hatirghata beel, about one kilomtre off the place of occurrence yesterday while the bodies of Khitish Barman, 22, and Abdul Hai, 11, of Indrapur village were recovered from nearby Lechuamara beel on Friday.
Police handed over the bodies of the fishermen to their family members, Md Abul Hashem, officer-In-charge of Tahirpur Police Station said.
Locals said about 10 fishermen aboard two boats were fishing in the haor in Berberia area in the morning. The boats were caught in storm at around 10:30 am and sank into the water body.
Tahirpur IUpazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Md Anwar Hossain said police Ansars teams with the help of local people s recovered the bodies.
