HSC examinee murdered in Sailkupa
An HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate) examinee was murdered at Dulalpur village in Shailkupa upazila yesterday morning.
The victim, Billal Hossain, 25, son of Fazlur Rahman of Charshantidanga village under Sadar upazila of Kushtia district, was appearing in the ongoing HSC examinations from DM College in Shailkupa upazila.
Family sources said Billal went out of their house at around 7:00pm and did not return home at night.
Locals found his body at a banana orchard of the village at around 9:30am and informed the police who recovered the body and sent it to Jhenidah Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
Police said the assailant shot him and then slit his throat. Quoting a relative of the victim, Shahidul Islam, officer in-charge of Shailkupa Police Station, said Billal, also an activist of Chhatra Moitre, was involved in drug peddling.
His rival peddlers might have killed him and dumped the body in the orchard, said the OC.
