Frequent Load Shedding

Angry people confine PDB engineers to office in Noakhali

Our correspondent, Noakhali
Angry people yesterday confined two engineers of the Power Development Board (PDB) at their office rooms at maijdee Court protesting frequent load shedding in the area. Several hundred people led by former lawmaker Fazle Elahi and Muktijoddha Commander Fazlul Haque Badal came to the local PDB office in a procession and confined Superintendent Engineer Anup Kumar Das Gupta and Executive Engineers Md Fakrul Alam in their rooms for an hour from 11:00am. The protester said they get electricity for 3 to 4 hours a day and face load shedding after every 15 minutes. “We confined the engineers to mount pressure on the authorities concerned to resolve the problems,” they said. The engineers said the frequency relay equipment, set up at Sonaimuri, Chatkhil and Datterhat, is one of the reasons for disruption in power supply in the town. The power-hungry people withdrew the programme after the engineers assured them of removing the equipment as early as possible.
