5 guns, bullets seized in Satkhira, 2 held

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) yesterday arrested two people in Kalkir Gate area in Assasuni upazila and recovered five shutter guns and six bullets from their possession. The arrestee are Nritya Ranjan Mondol, 40, son of yeadab Mondal of south Barodal village and Bidhan Mondol, 32, son of Paritosh Mondol of Lautara village in the upazila. Acting on a tip -off, a team of Khulna Rab-6, raided Kalkir Gate area at around 1:00pm and arrested Nritya and Bidhan. The elite force also recovered the shutter guns and bullets from the two. Later, the arrestees were handed over to Assasuni Police Station. UNB adds: Law enforcers in separate drives arrested two alleged drug peddlers along with 400 bottles of phensidyl and two kgs of hemp from Sarakerbazar in Kanaighat upazila and Ambarkhana in the city on Saturday evening. The arrestees are Kamola Begum, 55, wife of Nasiruddin of Barabazar area of Akhaura upazila of Brahmanbaria district, and Farid Mia, 28, son of Mokbul Ali of Khola village in Goainghat upazila of Sylhet. Sources said the law enforcers conducted a drive at Sarakerbazar and arrested Kamola with 400 bottles of Indian phensidyl syrup. In another drive, law enforcers arrested Farid along with 2kgs of hemp from Ambarkhana area at around 7:00 pm.
