Non-govt teachers hold rally to press for 17-pt demand
Teachers and employees of non-government high schools and colleges of the district yesterday brought out a procession and held a rally in the town to press home their 17-point demand including nationalisation of the education system.
Under the banner of Bangladesh Shikkhak-Karmachari Oikya Parishad (BSKOP), they also held a rally on the deputy commissioner's office premises.
The speakers at the rally urged the government to take necessary steps to implement the education policy-2010 immediately.
They criticised the government for giving them Tk 150 as house rent and Tk 100 as medical allowance.
They demanded the prime minister's intervention to end discrimination in the education system.
They also threatened to go for a tougher agitation programme if the demands were not met immediately.
Later, they submitted a memorandum to the prime minister through the DC.
Among others, convener of BSKOP Manikganj district unit and president of the district unit of Bangladesh College-Biswabidyalaya-Shikkhak Samity Mir Mokhsedul Alam, spoke.
