Attack on jewellery shop owner
Extortionists attacked a jewellery shop owner and took away Tk 1.5 lakh from him near Burir Bazar in Sadar upazila on Monday night.
Critically injured Bishnu Chandra Roy was rescued by the local people and admitted to Lalmonirhat Sadar Hospital.
Owner of Sagor Jewellers at Burir Bazar, Bishnu alleged that he was returning home in a rickshaw van along with two others at around 10:30pm.
All of a sudden, 5 to 6 identified extortionists attacked the rickshaw van and took him to a maize field.
They hit him with iron road, hockey sticks and took away Tk 1.5 lakh."I know all of them. They belong to the AL and Jatiya Party," he told this correspondent.
