Sylhet to have new intercity train May 15
Bangladesh Railway (BR) will introduce a new intercity train on Dhaka-Sylhet route from May 15.
According to BR sources, 'Kalni Express', having 525 seats, will depart from Sylhet station at 6:20am and reach Dhaka at 1:00pm. It will leave Dhaka Railway Station at 3:00pm and arrive at Sylhet at 9:00pm.
The train will have stoppages at Kulaura, Srimongal, Shayestaganj and Dhaka Airport stations.
The train was scheduled to be launched on Pahela Baishakh, the first day of Bangla New Year. But it became uncertain as minister Suranjit Sengupta resigned over railway-gate scandal.
After taking over the additional charge of railway ministry, Communications Minister Obaidul Quader asked the officials concerned to fix a new date for launch of the train, the sources said.
